Over 200 Estun Robots Deployed on a Single Production Line: Fully Autonomous Robotic Automotive Parts Welding Line Officially Launched at Scale

As a global hub for the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry, China produced 16.626 million NEVs in 2025, accounting for approximately 74.5% of global NEV production. Meanwhile, China’s automotive equipment manufacturing industry—driven by indigenous technologies, world-leading efficiency, and strong customization capabilities—has become a global benchmark for automotive manufacturing equipment.

In collaboration with a well-known domestic intelligent automotive brand, Estun Automation has jointly developed a smart manufacturing plant for automotive components where the automation level of core processes reaches 90%. A super-large production line deploying more than 200 Estun robots was installed, commissioned, and successfully put into trial production within 60 days.

This project represents a major breakthrough for Estun industrial robots in achieving large-scale, full-process application in high-end automotive manufacturing. With outstanding stability and reliability, it sets a new industry benchmark for NEV manufacturing and highlights the advancement of “Intelligent Manufacturing in China” toward high-end and independent innovation.

The newly commissioned intelligent automotive components factory features a wide range of robotic applications and complex manufacturing processes, including spot welding, adhesive dispensing, SPR, FDS, stud welding, material handling, and arc welding. The entire production line integrates over 200 Estun robots, with payload capacities ranging from 6 kg to 500 kg, supporting an annual production capacity sufficient for 300,000 vehicles’ worth of components.


Spot Welding Application

Estun’s large-payload industrial robots for spot welding are certified with an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) of 120,000 hours, achieving industry-leading levels of stability, reliability, and durability.

The robots offer ±0.06 mm repeatability, and through deep integration between high-speed servo welding guns and the robot control system, production cycle time and operational efficiency are significantly improved.

Additionally, the dedicated spot welding process software package integrates extensive process databases with a user-friendly human-machine interface. This reduces commissioning time from several days to just a few hours and enables model changeovers within minutes, greatly simplifying debugging procedures and enabling rapid deployment.



SPR & FDS Applications

Leveraging excellent structural rigidity and precise motion control, Estun robots are well suited for SPR (Self-Piercing Riveting) and FDS (Flow Drill Screwing) processes.

They can withstand recoil forces of up to 4,000 N, ensuring efficient, reliable, and high-quality joining when connecting lightweight materials such as aluminum. This fully meets the stringent requirements of lightweight vehicle body manufacturing.


Arc Welding, Handling, and Dispensing

Estun arc welding robots feature exceptional trajectory accuracy and vibration suppression capabilities, ensuring stable and reliable welding quality even in confined spaces.

Estun handling robots, with payload capacities ranging from 3 kg to 1200 kg, combine excellent motion performance with extensive peripheral interfaces, enabling high-speed, high-precision transfer and assembly of large sheet-metal parts and assemblies.

In adhesive dispensing applications, Estun robots achieve ±0.1 mm path accuracy, ensuring consistent and uninterrupted adhesive application.

Together, these three process capabilities support high efficiency and high-quality output across the entire production line.
